Best place for a Villa type holiday in Spain

Thinking ahead - we're hoping to go to Spain next May. 3 kids aged 5, 10 and 12. We have various allergies and dietary requirements as a family and so want a villa where we can self-cater rather than a hotel/ resort. We're looking for somewhere with nice beaches but also a bit of culture for a couple of non-beachy days out. Any thoughts as to where in Spain we should be looking?

Following with interest as want to get to know spain better over the next few years.

A big consideration for me would be the airports you can easily fly to, as spain is such a massive place.

Valencia, I’ve actually never been but my elder son has and it has all that you mention in bucketloads.

Javea/Moriara/Altea or Calpe ( but it's quite built up compared to the other places I've listed. Lots to do with day trips to Valencia or Alicante.
Valencia (1.5hoursaway) has an amazing zoo called the Bio Park and the City of Arts and science, along with the Oceangraphic centre .
Water Parks in Benidorm (40 mins away) . The Water falls & Guadalest also beautiful inland near Benidorm. The beaches at Denia are beautiful and never get too busy .
The area is serviced by Alicante airport or Valencia (cheaper in the peak season)

I live here so maybe biased 😂

Mallorca offers all types of resort. Avoid the obvious big party resorts like Magaluf, look around Andratx or Soller on the West, Pollenca in the North, and the East coast around Cala D'Or. We have just had a break at Porto Cristo and it was lovely, a small resort, nice beach, a few beautiful coves a few miles away. If you want watersports and activities there is Cala Millor a few miles away that is a large resort with a lovely cycle track right along the long beach, and the usual holiday type bars and restaurants.
