Hi all, Having a nightmare. just realised my daughter has 5 and a half months left on passport and I didn't realise it was "less than 6 months". booked holiday to egypt less than 1 week to go. no emergency appointments and can't use same day for child renewal. has anyone any experience with this rule where they have been allowed in. not sure what else I can do other than chance it or loose holiday. I checked it multiple times but it didn't click until just now.

You won't be allowed to board the flight. If by some good luck you are allowed and land in Egypt you'll be refused entry and either detained or returned immediately.

Any 'positive stories' you hear from randoms on the internet will likely be made up.

Don't be silly and try it. It will be immensely more disappointing and awful to actually pack and prepare for the holiday and be refused boarding. I wouldn't risk such an awful situation for my dc, better they're let down gently in advance if need be.

I don't know if you're up for it but travel to the passport office and explain the situation that you need a new one for her asap. Go take some pictures and fill out any paperwork needed today and tomorrow travel to the passport office and be there for opening or just before opening. That's the only thing I can think of.

They won't let you on the plane.
Can you delay the holiday until you can get the passport sorted?

Look for appointments anywhere in the country rather than just locally for a.s.a.p.
There have been previous posts about people flying over to the Belfast office.
