Why, are you going to do this? Tell us

Nothing more than a fantasy idea of having a holiday home there.

Ryde - near Ashley Park/Tower. Walk to lovely beach usually overlooked by lots of tourists since v. few hotels in the town unlike Sandown/Shanklin.

I do live on the isle of wight. I live in Cowes, because I like the connection with the mainland ( 23 minutes on the fast ferry ) and because dh commutes to southampton every day. Cowes is definately not the place for a beach holiday life, although it is an absolutely fantastic place to live! It depends what you are looking for. West Wight ( Freshwater, Yarmouth ) is incredibly rural, picturesque, quiet, cut off, and East Wight ( Sandown, Shanklin etc ) is much busier and seaside-touristy. I would go for west wight, because I am a snob, lol. Nowhere is more than half an hour drive away though.
