Egypt for Christmas?

I'm looking for a sunny destination for Christmas, Caribbean is too expensive to go during the school holidays.

The canaries we have been to loads for Christmas but can sometimes be abit chilly.

I'm wondering what the weather is like for Egypt, I've checked online and it says the highest temperature is around 24 degrees which would be great.

I'm thinking of sharm el sheikh and wondering if anyone has been for Christmas.

It is fab.
Done it twice, on both sides of the Red Sea. The sun goes down quite early, so in Hurghada, after 3 pm max 4 pm, the day at the beach was over. However in Sharm , there were more rays until mid afternoon.
Bikini weather, gorgeous water in both.
I slightly preferred Hurghada, because it is a real city and after the beach we would wander in the old streets, have hibiscus tea in cafe and the best part was the excursion to Luxor and the Kings Valley. You can't see Ancient Egypt from Sharm unless you take plane.

Thank you for the information. So did you find there wasn't much to do In Sharm el sheik?

Glad to hear it will be hot enough for sunbathing etc

Sharm wasn't authentic.
There are streets with shops and bars, but made for tourist. It didn't have the oriental and exotic feel Hurghada had. Might have been Tenerife, Bali o any touristic place.

There is the "old Sharm" but there isn't really anything there.

It will absolutely be hot enough to lie in a bikini and go for a swim.

If you have a wetsuit, take it with you, because when you snorkel or just watch the fishes floating still, you don't move much, and after a while it gets chilly.

I had a half wetsuit (short sleeve and short leg) . You will have more sun in Sharm, but really going to Egypt and not seeing anything "Egyptian" is a bit of a pity.

I am not sure if they still do the excursions from Hurghada because of terrorist threats. We went years ago.
We bought an excursion in a shop. We left at 5 am and it was a convoy of tourist buses, local vans, trucks private vehicle with police opening and closing it. Must have been more than hundred vehicle crossing the desert.

I really enjoyed Luxor and seeing the magnificent Ancient Egypt art and statues and the colours in the restored tombs of the Kings Valley.
