Hi, sorry if this sounds a bit stupid but does anyone on MN have any experience of their teenage lad 19yrs going to Amsterdam. My sons friend has booked for them to go to Amsterdam on the ferry, The ferry drops them off in the morning then they spend the day wandering around then return on the ferry late on that night. I've not been before and I'm just wondering if there is anything they need to know ie places to avoid, not getting arrested, mugged or falling in the canal. I know I'm just looking at worst case scenarios but he's only really started going out drinking since last year so he's not exactly used to it. Sorry if this is in the wrong place or not a valid question thanks.

Amsterdam is just a city.

Does he get arrested or fall in the river at home?

If he's got any common sense he'll be fine.

arrested, mugged or falling in the canal

None of these things will happen.

They will go to the red light district and gawp at trafficked prostitutes in windows along with all the other tourists, sit in a brown cafe inhaling second hand dope and snigger over penis and dope themed items in souvenir shops.

If they aren’t twats they’ll go to the Rijksmuseum and see some stupendous art, but don’t hold your breath.
