Med cruise end of October

Is a med cruise at end of October a daft idea? With a 3 year old? Am finding mixed reviews on weather at that time of year. We have considered a cruise on and off for couple of years but never done one before, so unfamiliar with what to expect, especially in terms of suitability for young children. For similar price we could do a long haul all inclusive for guaranteed weather, pool and beach for DS, etc. We have done these a few time before so know what to expect, but torn between trying the cruise or sticking with the more familiar AI resort option.

We have a Med cruise booked for the beginning of October and tbh I am feeling nervous about the weather 😕 Unfortunately I couldn't get time off in September but we loved the itinerary so are taking the chance!

On a cruise a few years ago around the Greek Islands we had the worst storm i've ever encountered and that was in June! So, you just never know what you're going to get especially with the crazy weather all over the world lately. If the ship and itinerary work for you i'd say go for it!

Eastern or Western Med? Which cruise line? I'd be happy on P&O, Cunard or Royal Caribbean in October as they are all big ships with stabilisation for poor weather. All of those will have kids' clubs too, which would be essential for me to get a bit of adult time in the spa!!!

Thanks both. The one we are looking at is with Tui as we like the idea of booking flights/cruise as a package and they are all inclusive, so feels like an easier option as a first cruise. Itinerary Southern Spain, France, Italy.

Will you be on the Discovery 2? There's a very nice indoor pool should it be raining. We really love Tui/Marella, we prefer them to P&O, we found the food to be a lot better. The Italian restaurant is fantastic and the fish & chips and snacks from the poolside snack shack are very good. I believe better value for money than at an all-inclusive hotel (proper branded drinks for example).

Sightseeing is also a lot more pleasant when it's cooler. But not so much if it's raining... Consider getting a mid-ship cabin if you're worried about being sea-sick.

You might find this an interesting read in helping you to decide!

Mediterranean weather in October - Cruises Message Board - Tripadvisor

Answer 1 of 6: Hi, I've been trying to plan my first cruise ever. It will be in the Mediterranean, taking in Barcelona to Rome and possibly some of Greece. Most of the itineraries that I like are in mid to late October and I was wondering if anyone can...

Yes, Discovery 2, so good to know that the indoor pool is a good option as well.
Thanks for the link, interesting read and good point that with the weather so far this year, October could do anything!
The cooler weather does sound appealing for walking around sightseeing though, as probably wouldn’t do as much in the 40C summer temps.
