Has anyone been? Did you like it? Any hotel recommendations please.
Thinking of stopping there for a few days in early October, after a week’s beach holiday, to break the journey home.

If you like water parks then stay at Atlantis.
in terms of things to do - burj Khalifa and the fountain show outside the shopping centre (we watched it from a Lebanese restaurant across the street), the Dubai museum to learn about the history, a desert safari

Yes it's good fun and not too expensive unless you're a big drinker. Who are you going with?

And the souks and a boat trip on the creek

Thanks very much, going with DH, no kids. Not big drinkers, so should be fine! Any hotel or areas to stay recommendations? Could you name and recommend the Lebanese restaurant LicoriceAllsorts2? We love Lebanese food 😋

Based on a Google search, I think it was Abd el Wahab. If you sit outside on the terrace then you will get a view of the fountain show which runs regularly from 17:45 onwards each day

I visited friends there once and wouldn’t go again, it’s a horrible soulless monument to excess built on slave Labour. They have a whale shark in a tank at a mall ffs.

the whole place is the personification of just because you can doesn’t mean you should/more money than sense.

We like the Jurmerhai beach area to stay. The hotels on the Palm are also lovely but you then have a 30 min drive to downtown. Juurmerhai is closer to the Mall, Burj, museum, souk etc. The hotels are of such high standard compared to Europe that you'll be fine.

Just going to echo what @JudyGemstone has said - sorry! I lived there when I was younger and the ruling family have spent billions on turning it into a consumerist hell hole on the back of slave labour. Oman is much much nicer.

Thanks, however this is where our already booked flights is taking us. Just thinking about breaking our journey home.
