Can I avoid mosquitoes in France?

I’m hoping to holiday in France next year but would like to avoid mosquitoes as far as possible (I went to the dordogne last year and the mosquitoes were awful).

Any tips on areas with the least mosquitoes?

You get them everywhere but I would make an effort to be away from water. I did better in countrtside in Provence. Avoid being near lakes and rivers don't sit out in the evening for too long. Use a fan next to you. Use jungle formula or similar at night. They can't fly or settle on you. Buy plug ins and keep windows closed at night.
