Has anyone been to Corfu since the wildfires? Seen a cheap deal and wondering is everything back to normal now? Thanks

Yes it’s back to normal. What resort are you looking at? X

IncognitoMam · 11/08/2023 19:57

Apparently it's ok? There's Facebook groups that have a lot of information. I'm going in September.

Goingtobee · 11/08/2023 19:59

We’ve flown back from there today, it was fine (and it’s absolutely beautiful!) Enjoy!

Holidays9 · 11/08/2023 20:18

It's the Acharavi area, not sure if this is a good resort. It's a really lovely looking little boutique hotel. Thank you for all the replies

Glad they ate getting on better now.
I'm heading off there in 2 weeks. Cant wait to go back. Think I've stayed in almost every town(except Kavos). Paleokastritsa and Kassiopi are my favourites.

Absolutely back to normal. We just got back and had the most wonderful time. We flew out 13 days ago just as the last fire went out and everyone cheered when we landed! No fires at all the whole time we were there, and lovely and warm and lush green. There is a Corfu Forum on FB which is really helpful. Buses are great to get around the island. Any questions, please ask!

Kassiopi last week

Kassiopi last week

That's where I'm going for the first time.

Thanks everyone for the messages. The other option we were looking at is Kanoni which has a much better transfer time. I will look for the forum thanks

Look at Agios Gordios, 30 minute transfer time and absolutely stunning

TinkerbellefromYorkshire · 12/08/2023 11:59

Been going since l was 20.. long before hotels were built and it was barren and had to stay in studios/ we also camped..still go but stay in apartments.. it's changed such a lot.. we always hire a car and stay in the Dassia area so we can drive into Corfu town on an evening for the fabulous atmosphere and vibe. ( I'm 65)we have days out driving all over the island and must have been just about everywhere. We also love sunbathing / chilling/ swimming. You won't be disappointed.. ( avoid Sidari and Kavos if you don't want the party atmosphere)

Its absolutely gorgeous, I hope you enjoy! We'll be stopping there again for 3 nights during our trip this Aug/Sept
. So many lovely places to eat and little beaches, great view of Albania. There's only a couple of pubs which are loud and stay open late. Just a lovely place to be.

I dont see Sidari as a party town, though I do stay more towards the canal d'amour area. There are some loud pubs on the main strip but saw mostly couples and families and no actual nightclubs.
Had beautiful food and fun greek night in the D'amour Beach Bar. Gorgeous views.

Dh has been before. It does look lovely on YouTube videos.

Savemesos · 12/08/2023 16:02

I’m looking at going next year with DH and 3 teens - looking for a self catering apartment near a sandy beach. Not fussed about complex entertainment etc.. but will be hoping to explore. Any recommendations please?

Surferrosa74 · 12/08/2023 17:54

Agios Gordios definitely! You won’t find many uk tour operators going there so it’s a DIY job. Highly recommend Steven’s on the Hill for SC apartments and lovely pool area too.

Savemesos · 12/08/2023 18:32

Thanks, looks lovely but I think that’ll be out of our budget! And tbh, I’d rather go for a package with flights/transfers included.

Sillybillypoopoomummy · 12/08/2023 18:34

Please could someone link to one of the facebook groups - we go next week and I can't wait (Kerasia)!

Rainbowstone · 12/08/2023 19:21

the best forum is called ‘Corfu Forum’ if you search on FB, it was invaluable whilst we were there, people so helpful in recommending places to visit, bus routes, events etc

Sillybillypoopoomummy · 13/08/2023 12:33

thank you!

Anjelika · 09/08/2024 12:51

@Savemesos -I know this is an old thread but did you go to Corfu and if so where did you stay? I'm looking for the same for next year, also with 3 teens.

Savemesos · 09/08/2024 13:23

@Anjelika Hi, no we ended up going to Skiathos. Had a great time despite the heatwave!

Anjelika · 09/08/2024 14:03

@Savemesos thanks for the update. Did you find similar on Skiathos - self catering apartment for 5?

Savemesos · 09/08/2024 15:07

@Anjelika
We stayed here: https://m.skiathosalmira.gr

The DC were in one room, me and DH in another. There were basic cooking facilities & fridge (no oven) but we ate out most days. Rooms had aircon and were cleaned daily. The hotel was lovely especially the pool and pool bar. Nice vibes - get lots of repeat custom. Restaurant on site, others easy walking distance as is the beach and supermarket. I’d recommend!

We didn’t do much sightseeing as it was too hot but went to the town a couple of evenings and to other beaches, the bus service is great. The island felt very safe. You can go on boat trips.

we booked via jet2 but it’s cheaper to book direct with the hotel (you get free air con) then get flights separately. We had to pay for the air con. Breakfasts in hotel were delicious but had to pay extra whereas I think you can get B&b when you book direct.
