Luxury holiday destination with cooler temps for summer 2024?

Looking for suggestions. Just had a beautiful break in Spain but it was quite hot as I predicted and I would have liked to do some sightseeing- it was just too hot in the middle of the day. My dh and kids need a place with tennis and a great pool, I would like a bit of culture - museums, art, architecture- I could get a cab or walk into town for example - and we are all pretty fanatical about good fresh food so not weird gels and pastes from a Michelin star chef but great fish, herbs, grilled meat, good fruit etc

we have always loved Italy but I’m still stressed about the heat. Curious about the Dolomites but every hotel seems booked up already and I don’t know where to look apart from the main towns.

other ideas we’ve had are Montenegro, Slovenia (what is the food like??) or even Switzerland.

I thought the food was pretty bad in Croatia, the food we had in Spain was mixed, and the last 2/3 holidays before that were Italy where we are pretty much always happy with the food.

looking for July 24.

We don't go to the Med in the summer, because it's too hot! We went to Tenerife this summer, which was perfect and is almost always around 30 degrees every day in summer - however it's not what I would call a destination that is particularly cultural. It has lots of fab hotels though with tennis, swimming, etc and it's not too hot. What about Portugal? The Atlantic is cooler than the Med and it should offer the right mix of weather, pool, tennis and culture you're after.

Switzerland definitely.

What about Austria? There are some gorgeous Tirol hotels with pools etc and lovely food - cheaper than Switzerland - and you can do trips to Innsbruck, Rattenburg etc.

Hotels in Italy won't be booked up just yet - it'll be that they didn't release dates for next summer yet.

Northern Spain..santander and San Sebastian?
It's where the Spanish go on holiday because it's cooler. Only problem is....rain risk increases!

Another vote for Austria. Loads to do, good quality food, high standards in hotels, and not normally much warmer than the UK. If you’re in the mountains you do get more extreme temperatures (and amazing thunderstorms) but nothing like the Med.
