Can anyone recommend a holiday with lots of tennis & sailing tuition for teens?

We always do this at the end of every summer holiday: enjoy lots of chat about what / where / holiday for next summer. This year we've been on a driving holiday to France with quite a lot of culture, history and some R&R at the end. It's been wonderful. Consensus is for next year to do something more focussed for our teens. One is keen to learn to sail (DS13) and the other is mad about tennis (DS15).

We've been on Neilson holidays before and liked the sailing but found it too hot for tennis and there wasn't much tuition on offer - just a daily activity. The big turn off for me was that the teens went into town several nights and several of them got drunk. All of the group were underage and part of a 'lightly organised' activity. In fact, the whole culture for teens was very focussed on drinking / partying, with lots of chat and banter from the Neilson staff. I know lots of people don't mind that, but we weren't impressed and it's off-putting.

Happy to do self catering, hotels or AI. Would prefer something organised as it can get really expensive and time consuming booking individual lessons. I play tennis and my husband loves golf.

Would love to hear of any ideas and suggestions. 🙏🌞🙏

Club Med. I think the Portugal one has a golf course nearby.

Neilsen holidays.

Oops - sorry.

Come and have a city holiday in London!

For sailing

Youth Programme | Westminster Boating Base

For tennis near that, see what's on offer at Battersea Park (closest) or any of the other nearby public courts

Info here on visitor friendly golf courses

Now of course this might mean that you all have to vanish off in different directions for the sports, but if you can find tennis near the sailing it'll work (as you'll be near both DC, and I'm assuming DH can find his way himself)

And then there's absolutely oodles of other stuff to do during the times you're not being sporty.

Club La Santa in Lanzarote. Loads of stuff to do for everyone. Not sure if they do sailing themselves though but am pretty sure there will sailing schools on the island.

I was going to suggest Club La Santa too - DC did a swim camp there several years ago. They do kayaking, windsurfing and paddle boarding as well as snorkelling and diving, and lots of racquet sports options. I would think there would be dinghy sailing options available locally?

Mark Werner?

Warner*

I think you have been misinformed. The staff at Neilson and Mark Warner would lose their jobs if they went partying or consumed alcohol with underaged guests.

What other parents allow their teens to do off site is of course another matter.

Your kids could choose to do other activities if they want to.

Both the above companies do sailing and tennis tuition , group and individual.

Anywhere in the med is going to be hot to play tennis in July / August! Club Santa would probably be even hotter than most Neilsons resorts and they don't appear to do sailing. I was also about to suggest Neilsons and i'm surprised by what you say about the drinking as that definitely wasn't our experience of it. Also, if you don't want your kids going off site then you don't allow them out!

Re the partying, I think this is less likely if you choose a resort which is quite isolated rather than near a town or resort?

There are lots of sailing specific holidays eg Minorca Sailing. Or ones with sailing plus other watersports eg Nikiana, Trek Adventures. But there wouldn’t be tennis on offer I don’t think . Somewhere in the UK might have both a sailing holiday club and a tennis holiday club nearby - but not sure that is quite what you have in mind.

Conversely there are resorts/campsites in eg mid France which would have tennis and not be too hot - but no sailing.

Agree it is likely to be just too hot in the Med for tennis in July August. I would be inclined to ditch the tennis requirement and try to persuade the tennis mad one to try a watersports course - windsurfing is the other one that offers structured courses.

Another possibility is an Alpine holiday, I have not looked but I bet there is an Alpine resort with both tennis and watersports if you are near a lake. Don’t know if there would be courses however, but worth a look.

Thank you so much for all the replies. Lots to look into and google. I hadn't thought of a UK holiday or an Alpine one!

Take a look at Forte Village.

This club med https://www.clubmed.co.uk/r/la-palmyre-atlantique/ has both sailing and tennis, and is near La Rochelle so would not be too hot?

Other Club Meds may also work

Only thing is - I don’t know if the tuition would be in French?
