I have seen a thread on here but it is years old...
Booking last minute with a 15 and 17 year old who get bored easily. Sorry if this sounds awful but do not want to go somewhere full of 'English' bars/cafes.
We will have a car. Any recommendations on an town/village on either island? Fav hotel? Excursions?
Thank you!

They are quite different islands. One has warm sea, the other doesn’t and can be windy. I’d choose wherever is cheapest, though I’ve just returned from Lagos in Portugal and though there were cocktail bars, most were Portuguese, food was excellent and hardly any brits abroad (except nice ones like me).

Thanks. We know they are very different but can't decide! 😁

Puerto de Mogan on Gran Canaria is lovely, depending on what you want in a hotel -

Hotel LIVVO
Radisson Blu
Cordial Mogan Playa

The beach is gorgeous, sunbeds to rent, usually safe for swimming as there’s a breakwater.

I think you can do kayaking etc. from the beach - definitely could when we went.

The marina is very pretty and has lots of boat trips going from it, submarine boats, snorkelling trips, diving trips, dolphin watching

You can also get the boat to Puerto Rico which is more of a ‘British’ resort.

Taurito which is the next resort along from Mogan has a little water park.

Maspalomas has a lot of attractions but is more of a lively and less authentic resort. If you wanted to be near more things to do in Maspalomas / Playa del Ingles but not right in the thick of it you could look at the hotels in Meloneras, there are some beautiful ones.
