XL - Has anyone flown long haul with them?

Says it all really!! My ds and I are going to the virgin islands early July. XL are coming up as the cheapest flights to Antigua just over £800 compared to £1200 with BA.

I have read reviews on them and most of them are awful but most of the people that slated XL were not on long Haul flights!!

So if you have would you recommend it or pay more money!! Ds is 4 by the way.

Peasoup when did you live there? Just wondering if maybe we were there at the same time? I was there from 96 to 2004!

Just returned from Tobago and flew XLONE with DH and 1 yr old DS. Flight arrived 1 hr early ahead of schedule in Tobago, and 30 min ahead of schedule on return to Gatwick. Flight Attendants were lovely and very helpful and attentive esp. since we were flying with a baby. We had a very good experience with XL, but with any airlines, it is hit or miss.

We flew Continental to the US last summer and it was absolute crap. Horrible service and horrible plane, I would never fly Continental again.

DaBombDiggitty- I was in Antigua, not Tortola, I think we arrived in 2002.

Actually it was Wotz that brought up Long Bay Beach Hotel!! I guess I assumed she meant the one in Antigua, but who knows, she could've meant Tortola! Maybe she'll come back to the thread and tell us. Probably a long bay on every island I guess. What did you get up to in Tortola? Working or playing?

I worked with sunsail for 6 years than was a bar manager! before i came back to have my boy!

I ran back to England to have my boy too! Even the doctor I had in Antigua flew over to England to have her babies. Medical care not Antigua's strong point. The advice I always had was to just get on a plane if anything happened.
We've taken DS back a few times though. Might go again this summer. Not as organised as you at deciding when; it'll be a last minute decision no doubt.
