Anywhere in Europe - two to three hour flight.
Sunny.
Open spaces.
Walking distance to a town or village.
Beachside (preferably)
Adult only but not a deal breaker.
Less than £2,500 per adult for 10 days.

I think I'm probably expecting far too much. 😉😀

Haha! And not on a public forum!

I've searched all day. I work with schools, look at typical resort hotels and feel ‘institutionalised’ - I can't think of anything worse than being hemmed in around a pool…😀😉

What dates are you looking at?

kimonoblues · 08/08/2023 16:40

What dates are you looking at?

Now! 🤣

But certainly back before the start of the new school term.

I know, I know…last minute Lizzy…in my mind it means I've less searching to do because lots has sold out.

A spa would be good too.

I do go to a hotel that fits all criteria but want to see just a little bit more of the world.

The Trapezaki Bay Hotel in Kefalonia is beautiful and adults only, beachfront but I think it's a drive to town

AmandaHoldensLips · 08/08/2023 16:46

Does it have to be a beach holiday? If not, the D'Angleterre in Copenhagen is fabulous, as is Copenhagen. Also the Santa Catarina in Amalfi - absolutely stunning and fantastic.

Hbh17 · 08/08/2023 17:01

I agree - stay away from beaches! I would say the Riva in Konstanz, southern Germany - it's gorgeous. Or try something in the Italian Lakes. I find the Daily Telegraph website has lots of good recommendations for hotels, as long as you've identified a location first.

Sun Gardens just outside Dubrovnik, Croatia. Lovely Spa, beautiful Dubrovnik not far away.

I second D'Angleterre Copenhagen.

Further away, Windjammer landing in St Lucia

Alvie22 · 08/08/2023 17:15

Lots to check out, I will take a look just now.

By the way, a lot of the high end hotels have adult only pools etc so doesn't have to be an adult only hotel.

Mr and Mrs smith, good shout.

Maddy70 · 08/08/2023 17:24

www.facebook.com/gransitgesroyalrooms I'm sitges south of Barcelona

In fact many of the hotels in stores would fit your criteria. They are all pretty classy

Twizbe · 08/08/2023 17:28

Were currently in Malta at the DB San Antonio.

It’s in the town with easy bus links to Valletta. It’s not adults only, however it has an over 16s floor with roof top pool, bar and 2 restaurants. It has a spa as well.

No idea of current prices but Villa Athena in Agrigento is lovely. Not walking distance of town though. Similarly Monaci delle Terre Nere on the east coast of Sicily but also not walking distance of a town. Both are relatively short drives / taxis to the nearby towns though (Agrigento and Zafferana Etnea respectively).

To the PP above -- Santa Caterina looks incredible! Need to convince my husband that we should one day go back to the Amalfi Coast.

It is unlikely an Amalfi Coast 5 star hotel would come in under the OP's budget though. Although we stayed at Lorelei Londres which had beautiful rooms, convenient location and may come in within budget (not much outside space though -- there is a terrace, and some sunbeds by the rocky private beach).

Thank you, I have had a good look through but nothing as yet.

There is a hotel suggested that is one of my ‘go too’s’. 😉

Some hotels suggested are too ‘grand’, I prefer modern simplicity, some don't have the outdoor space or walking distance to a village or town.
Greece has loads of beautiful ‘resorts’ but they are miles from anywhere. The thought of being in a ‘resort’…insitutional…😂

There is one hotel on Mr&Mrs Smith that is lovely and has beaches and a village nearby , but the local airport is only accessible from London and the hotel is two hours away from Italian airport too. No public transport.

Any more suggestions gratefully received.

Esmerelda Park in Cala D’or, Majorca, there is an adults only section or adults only pool in the main hotel. Esmerelda Gardens is a quieter section. They also have some villas.
Lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. On the beach and several other beach coves within walking distance.

Cala di Falco in Sardinia. Hotel Vis a Vis in Sestri Levante. I always recommend Hotel La Palma in Stresa, which is on Lake Maggiore rather than seaside, but it's gorgeous. All have beach, shops and restaurants in walking distance and are not hugely far from an airport.

Alvie22 · 09/08/2023 10:46

I'm still here and having a good look at what is available. Some great suggestions @cherryassam - as expected many booked tho and the Italian hotel is £1300 per night😳
