Algarve at Easter

Have travelled in the summer holidays for quite a few years now and looking to travel at a time when the temperature is more moderate.
Has anyone been to the Algarve during the Easter holidays? We’d probably book for the first week in April.
Don’t want to go if local bars and shops are likely to be shut and no chance of swimming. Aware Canaries better at this time of year but haven’t been to Portugal before. Thank you

The Algarve can be wonderful at Easter- it was this year- beautifully warm and sunny. Other years it has been a bit hit and miss but definitely much better than at home. We were there from beginning of March and came home just after Easter. All the local restaurants were open so plenty of choice.

The sea is often chilly in the Algarve but strangely enough warmer at Easter than in August due to strange currents!. Pools that are not heated are likely to be too cold at Easter.

Pot luck with weather, we went to Fuerteventura for a week this Easter and rained 4 days out of 7….but you could be lucky and have beautiful sunny weather in Portugal ☀️
