My partner was lucky enough to get a job on India for 6 months, he went for four and I have now joined him for the last three - with the the last one travelling. I start a new job two weeks after we return. I have been here a week with my son who is going on travelling. My problem is, because it is so hot we are limited to what we do. We have had some great experiences so far - Delhi and Taj Mahal - but free rest of the time is very boring. My partner is at work and we are stuck in the flat. I'm worried I won't cope with this for the rest of the time. AIBU or is it just early days and I'll get used to it. It is such a great opportunity and I know I'm very lucky.

So you’ve got about 7 more weeks while your DP works, then you’ll travel together? How long will your son be with you? I didn’t quite understand that part. If it’s just going to be you alone for the next 7 weeks, is there something like volunteering you could do locally to fill your time, rather than just sitting around?

I did this with a friend and we went out a few times to bookshops, to get clothes made, and for food but watched a lot of box sets. Then we went to the hills - Shimla felt very safe - though my friend was a seasoned Asia traveller and I'm not sure I'd have gone solo, but we were in our 20s.
Can your DH travel up with you and leave you somewhere pleasant like that for a couple of weeks and then come and get you?
