Recommendations please - only the baby is mine, I'm a first time mum so not experienced in these things, but my SIL needs a break so I want to swoop her two away for the day. The zoo? Or will that be a disaster?

Just cater for the 6 year old the others just need to be comfy and warm and fed Zoos are boring.
Something more hands on?...cant think what else though!

Not sure where you are but we took our 18 month old and a six year old niece to wonderland near telford at weekend. was a fiva each for adult and was good for both!

My DS 18 months likes zoo though, although cold at this time of year?

Have you any farms or petting zoos locallt?

BroccoliSpears · 27/02/2008 20:14

A farm with a playground and a cafe.

Have you got a friend with children of around age 6? I would just take them there. The children will play, the toddler will watch, the baby will ermmm poo. Everybody happy.

Twiglett · 27/02/2008 20:15

focus on the 6 year old because the 18 month and 8 week old are not that big a deal tbh

where are you?

onepieceoflollipop · 27/02/2008 20:17

Where in the country are you, roughly? Might help anyone local to think of ideas.

The 8 week old (unless more advance than my babies were) will be happy with regular milk and not much else!

posieflump · 27/02/2008 20:18

you have an 8 old week baby and you want to give someone else a break?!!

well done you

can you take someone with you to help out? Especially if you are feeding frequently, it might be hard to stop the 18 month old from toddling off

Denny185 · 27/02/2008 20:19

DD will be 6 when next one 4 weeks old and also have 18 month old, I have given her choices of days out for her b-day and shes choosen the zoo over a party.

fleacircus · 28/02/2008 20:31

DP will be with me and he's very good with toddlers, so I'm relying on him to take care of the 18mth old. The 6yr old is relatively self sufficient and usually enjoys a bit of attention and conversation, which I should be able to deliver as well as dealing with our baby (who is very easy!). We're in London and they live in Farnborough, so we need somewhere relatively near there - Hampshire or Surrey, I guess.

We've had some good days out at Odds Farm Park, S. Bucks. May be a bit far for you.

Thanks for suggestions, glad to hear I'm not completely off with the zoo, especially as there's a good one not too far from them. Will maybe leave it a few weeks for the weather to get warmer though!
