Has anyone been to Strasbourg? If so, can you recommend fun things to do and nice restaurants to eat at?

It's very pretty. We stayed a couple of days and did a boat trip and mooched around the alleyways and along the canal. The Ponts Couverts and the Barage Vauban. For food / drinks I remember La Corde a Linge and Au Petit Bois Vert. You could also do a day trip to Colmar.

If museums are your thing, Strasbourg has some excellent ones. The medieval one by the cathedral is very good, as is the museum of Strasbourg on the canal. The cathedral itself is great for a wander. There is a good modern art gallery out in Petite France. You can walk round the city by following the canal (the centre is an island) which is a good way to explore it all. Petite France is good for a wander and frequent pauses for a drink! If anyone likes beer, there are branches of the Academie de la Biere to be found.

For food, definitely try tarte flambee if you haven’t before. Binstub (more than one branch) is excellent - a cut above the basic but not expensive. The one in Place Broglie is our favourite. You are really spoilt for choice for food. My all time favourite is L’Eveil des Sens in Petite France but new places spring up all the time. Many of the most touristy places will have a lot of hearty Alsacien food - choucroute and ham in Munster - which can be great if it’s your thing. Otherwise there’s plenty of modern French cooking to be found.

Definitely recommend a trip to Colmar and depending when you’re going you can do a wine tasting tour.
