Reighton Sands, Filey. Just booked and now worried

I just wondered if anyone has been recently?

We have booked to go in a few weeks and now I am worried after reading the reviews.

We haven’t been away in 5 years, we all desperately need a holiday and I think I have made a mistake 😢

Apparently there are flies everywhere and the accommodation is dirty?!

I don't know about the accommodation but the beach at Filey is lovely and they have a large children's paddle pool on the promenade. Fish and chips is much cheaper but much nicer than at home. You are also close to Bridlington fabulous beaches.

That is good to hear!

I will have a look at Bridlington beaches 😊

Like PP I don't know about the accommodation, but agree completely about the wonderful beaches and bays at both Filey and Bridlington.

Filey's great. Lovely beach, great restaurant in town called The Dark Witch (you might need to book). Fun to walk along Filey Brigg. Scarborough is a good day out for the amusements, the castle, and also the beach. Flamborough Head for the seals and the lighthouse. Bempton Cliffs for the birds.

Don't worry too much about the reviews - take cleaning stuff and fly spray if it makes you feel happier, but really you just want a roof over your head to sleep in while you go out and enjoy all the fabulous stuff round and about.

We are just back from here. It's quite a small site but it's nice and quiet and the pool and the restaurant are nice enough. There is a tractor land train type thing that takes you down to the beach and back (it's down a steep hill). Lots of things nearby to do.

Went earlier this year, it was quiet and friendly and clean!

Unlike Bridlington beach where there’d been a sewage overflow. Reighton Sands beach is lovely.

Filey is fabulous it's one of my favourite places to go.

Buzzer3555 · 01/08/2023 14:25

It's lovely. Not too big and noisy. We have always found it to be clean and comfortable. Have a great time

Fraisthorpe beach just south of Bridlington is lovely, we take a beach tent and a picnic and go to laugh at all the dogs. It's heaven! There's a cafe and loos and you park in a farmer's field next to the beach (pay by card, max £5 per day).

A bit further up the coast is Scarborough. Peasholm Park is fabulous and you can take your kids in a giant dragon pedalo and see all the ducks and the squirrels and play crazy golf just round the corner from the north beach. You could take a picnic to the south cliff and eat it in the Italian gardens and enjoy the views across the bay.

It's fab!

Hunmanby Gap is a lovely beach near Filey - car park at the top of the cliffs and toilets, and one of the best value cafes I’ve ever been to (basically a portacabin with outdoor seating and superb views). Take cash as I’m not sure they take cards. But the beach is perfect, just check the tide times as it disappears at high tide.

Thank you all 😁.

We ended up changing it to Blue Dolphin also in Filey so we can explore the places you have recommended x
