Can anyone advise please?
I am trying to organise my 1st holiday in 20 years & I'm struggling.
I think I've found a place to stay via AirB&B (1st time using...)
So now I'd need to book flights. I don't know why I'm struggling but I am.
I need 1x adult, 1x18 y/o, 1x16 y/o.
Pref out of Edinburgh though could do Newcastle (or London if needed)
I've tried to look but have got utterly confused. Some prices seem to be £500 each (for Malta???) some seem to be £50? Do they all include luggage?
Help...

Does it need to be those specific dates? There doesn’t seem to be direct flights from Edinburgh or Newcastle on those days.

I use Skyscanner to search for flights.

It looks like there are direct options on those days from Gatwick (EasyJet) or Stansted (Ryanair). The initial prices for either of those would not include luggage.

If Manchester was an option, there is also an EasyJet direct flight there. Nottingham has a Ryanair one.

@cherryassam thank you thats kind of you to reply x I know I'm being a bit helpless here. I've not been well & I'm so tired & nervous of messing it up!

I could go 1 day either side if it made it easier yes.
NO luggage at ALL? (yikes...)

8th-15th august flights and one cabin bag plus small bag edinburgh to Malta £1450 with Ryanair.

If it's your first holiday OP, why not try a jet2 package? They're the best for this. Why Malta? Why use air B&B for this?

FirstDayOfHoliyays · 31/07/2023 16:56

Also. You are 3 adults

FirstDayOfHoliyays · 31/07/2023 17:01

I'd do something like this instead

It HAS to be Malta. Family there who could help (but can't put us up) so
I've found a private apartment that would be perfect for me (disabled)
& 2 teens (Autistic). But, Christ alive - £1500?? It's not long haul...
Would it be cheaper to fly from London?

Flights from Stansted are often a bit cheaper.

Biscuitandacuppa · 31/07/2023 17:55

Manchester flights on the Sunday coming in at under £1000, 10kg cabin luggage x 3 included and 22kg hold luggage is about £40 each way.

With Jet2

SheilaFentiman · 31/07/2023 17:55

Use matrix ita

SheilaFentiman · 31/07/2023 17:57

It will let you search from all 3 of your outgoing airports on a calendar

SheilaFentiman · 31/07/2023 17:59

Air Malta out of LHR and into LGW looks like the cheapest on here.

FirstDayOfHoliyays · 31/07/2023 18:00

Ok, shorter holiday.

Sunday to Friday from Manchester with EasyJet and just a backpack each is less than £500 altogether. You can get the train into the airport from Edinburgh and stay over the night before travel.

SheilaFentiman · 31/07/2023 18:03

But flights are a lot more expensive than they were pre pandemic. passenger duty has gone up too. The airlines really suffered.

54isanopendoor · 31/07/2023 18:27

@SheilaFentiman Ok thank you.
If I am reading the Matrix Airfare correctly it looks like they have Sat 7th LHR to Malta (ret Sun 15th) for £154 per person? That seems quite good? Air Malta so I guess I check their website to see about baggage costs (or do they contract out?) Sorry for so many questions. I am sure it didn't used to be so complicated!

I haven’t had chance to read the rest of the thread, but I just wanted to say that yes flight booking is definitely more difficult than it used to be and it’s partially because lots of what we used to expect included as standard no longer is.

Please don’t feel useless about it - it’s been designed to make us feel stressed etc. so we give the airlines more money, I’m sure of it!

cherryassam · 31/07/2023 18:42

RE Luggage - the budget airlines usually only include a small under seat bag in their most basic fare. You can buy more luggage allowance either cabin or hold but it costs money.

SheilaFentiman · 31/07/2023 21:10

Hi @54isanopendoor yes, go to the air Malta website to find the details of the fares and baggage etc. That site just shows available possibility, it’s not a booking site
