Seating advice with Jet2 please

Hi could anyone help please?
DP and I booked a holiday to Rhodes which was cancelled. Had to very quickly rebook with Jet2
Somewhere else. Now there are no seats for me and DP to sit together on the 'plane.

I'm an anxious flier and although it sounds silly I feel really nervous and worried about that thought of not sitting near to him.

Does anyone know how seating works? Can they swap seats when we check our luggage in? We've booked the only two seats left but they're opposite ends of the aeroplane.

Thank you xx

If you get to the gate early they may be able to swap allocations around, if you explain. There may be no shows. Otherwise take some headphones and try a mindfulness app

I paid £60 recently to book seats so that my family of four could sit together and I booked window seats specifically. When we arrived at the airport, jet2 told me they had changed our seats, but that we still had a window sitting together, when we got on the plane, it wasn't a window seat it was the middle four seats. I heard the people next to us moaning that they have been changed as well, but they wanted to sit in the middle so we just swapped while we were on the plane. I managed to get the money back for the seats that I had originally paid for. You could ask someone when you're on the plane but really I just suck it up if it's just a short flight.
Basically what I'm saying is you can ask on the plane but on my experience the stewardesses were useless regarding seats when I was on board and I just swapped with fellow passenger.

Thank you. I thought 4.5 hours was quite a long time Confused- I don't fly at all really. I was looking forward to sitting together and enjoying the new experience.
Thank you for the advice xx

Ask when you check in and ask again when you get on the plane.
but bear in mind that families in particular will have paid extra to sit together, possibly many months ago, so very unlikely to want to move.

Your best bet is possibly there being a bunch of no shows which opens up some spare seats. This happened when we last flew- some people’s passports fell foul of the “issued in last ten years” rule so they were bumped off at the last minute

Take some notes with you, ask nicely and be prepared to pay for people's seats they've booked or buy them a drink for the inconvenience.

Download a few movies to your iPad, take headphones and your favourite snacks, maybe a cushion. Then just try to relax.

We never book pre book seats unless on long haul flights as I absolutely refuse to pay to do so.

If I was sat next to one of you I would just swap as it wouldn't bother me at all, but it might be worth considering offering cash as an incentive.

The only thing is, on short haul the seats are in sets of 3's so the chances are you may well be next to couples who aren't keen to swap especially if they have paid for their seats.

It's only a few hours
