At the moment getting through? We have a flight at 9:30 next Wednesday planning on getting there for 7 am. Too late?

It was hellish when we went through last week. We had paid for fast track and were through in five minutes but the main queue was very long. That was on a Thursday morning around 9-10am.

I’ve been through Stansted and Gatwick recently and agree with @eurochick - Stansted was hellish.

It's permanently pretty bad. There are loads of Ryanair etc flights so lots of people with hand luggage only who have to get liquids out etc. We always do fast track now and that's quite quick.

Iwaskitty · 29/07/2023 11:47

I went 2 weeks ago, and it was empty. Paid for fast track, but the whole room was empty. Took 5 mins to get through.

Georgyporky · 29/07/2023 11:52

We always do fast-track security outbound, ft passport control inbound at STN.
Quite cheap, & well worth it.

SadKen82 · 29/07/2023 11:58

Took me about 25 minutes to get through last Friday at 9am.

Cheers for the replies

We went through Stansted last Wednesday. We paid for fast track and it was the best money I’ve spent. The main queue looked very long and people were apparently missing their flights. We arrived at 0845 for an 1155 flight, hand luggage only, took 35 minutes to get car seats dropped off, and about 10-15 minutes through security with fast track and two DCs in tow. 0700 for an 0930 flight sounds like cutting it fine if you have check-in baggage.

MegCleary · 30/07/2023 19:04

No check in baggage and children fairly swift and used to security checks at airports.

It's only usually an issue if you are on the early morning flights, so many between 6&8am

EssexCat · 30/07/2023 19:12

We went through last Sunday. Took about 25 mins. Longer as I had to take my shoes off and get patted down.

CoolShoeshine · 30/07/2023 20:05

Went about a fortnight ago - security queue looked very long but was actually pretty fast moving.

I'm thinking of booking security but am not sure what time we should book. Are they really strict on it? We fly at 8.10 and have cases to check in. What happens if we have to queue at drop off and miss our slot?

There is no time-slot at fast-track.

We are leaving at 6.15am on Friday - we are staying at the Hilton on site the night before so plan to be at the airport at 4.15am. We have a bag to drop and I have to get my passport checked as I am a foreigner.

Anyone been there at crack of dawn recently and know if it has been chaos?

mummy64 · 17/08/2024 15:58

Is there a time limit when you go through passport control? We booked our fast track for passport control 2 hours later than we were meant to 😓can't change the time on it and it's non refundable- doh! Thanks in advance!

Oldowl · 18/08/2024 08:06

We have travelled from Stansted a few times this year. Security queues are very long, back to the ticket scanner entrance at times. However, we have never queued for more than 20 mins, so 2.5 hours is loads of time.
