In Whitstable, be aware of the restrictions on dogs if you walk towards Tankerton (where the beach huts are):

Tankerton – A old-fashioned shingle beach with wooden groynes and beach huts. Beach is backed by a promenade and grassy slopes. Facilities close by including dog friendly Cafés (Sea View and The Bubble) close to the beach. Parking on road close to the beach and also in Tankerton town. Dogs not allowed on the beach between Pier Ave to The Street from 1st May to 30th September and also kept on lead on The Promenade.

Punting on the Stour river, shopping in Canterbury, wandering aroind the historic streets.

The Cathedral will take a couple of hours to do properly.

Broadstairs isn't too far and is a lovely traditional seaside town.

If you have a car there are lots of picturesque villages and pubs in the local area.

Leeds Castle
Dover Castle
Walmer castle
Deal pier
Folkestone Harbour Arm

The Roman Museum near the Cathedral is great.
Deal is good for a lovely pier walk and then chips from the cafe at the end.
Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, then a trip up the lighthouse at Dungeness.
Bus ride from Canterbury (round trip) via Whitstable and Herne Bay, stopping at Whitstable for chips on the beach
Port Lymne and Howlets animal parks

TheGander · 28/07/2023 18:04

The best fish and chips in whitstable is the one with all the tea towels on the wall.

TheGander · 28/07/2023 18:06

Just googled I think it’s VC Jones.
