Freiburg is lovely

We did the Black Forest with the dc and my PILs. Stayed in Schluchsee and did a boat trip on the lake, a scenic rail trip to Titisee, a few small hikes, Badeparadies Schwarzwald waterpark, Feldberg cable car and the Hassenhorn mountain coaster.

Munich, Alsace is quite a trip from Black Forest and Bavaria is huge in general.

We lived for years in Franconia, just north of Nürnberg. Lots of things to do in the area with hikes, caves, kayak/canoe on the river Pegnitz. Castles, museums, towns to explore.

Black Forest - it's nice but I personally was there once any wouldn't really go again.

No idea about Munich, sorry.

Alsace - the German side is the Pfalz/Palatinate. I like the area, both sides are good for exploring and hiking. Alsace has Strassbourg, Colmar, a great castle called Haut-Koenigsburg. On the German side you can go to Heidelberg, explore the towns along the Rhine like Speyer.

We had a brilliant holiday there last year. Stayed in an Airbnb just outside Lenzkirch. Spent a lot of time making the most of the free activities (especially swimming at local outdoor pools, mini golf and buses) on offer through this tourist card for that area: https://www.hochschwarzwald.de/planen-buchen/hochschwarzwald-card/alle-spar-vorteile. Plus plenty of options for lovely walks.

Agree the Badeparadies is a must-visit. Titisee is a bit touristy compared with other towns but we came back with a cuckoo clock!

Ok sounds great.

How did you travel there?

Flight or ferry and drive?

Husband was on his way back from Italy in the car, the rest of flew to Basel (1 hour tops away by car).

Euro park if you like theme parks

I’m keen to try this next year. We stayed in a Landal park in the Netherlands this year. Does anyone know of anything similar in the Black Forest region? Thanks

We are driving to Alsace, staying a few days in Kaysersberg, then over to the Black Forest. Staying near Kinzigtal (?) and then home
