Best travel money card for France?

Clevs · 26/07/2023 21:50

Looking at getting the Post Office travel money card for our France holiday in a couple of weeks to avoid taking cash and the fees for using our UK debit cards in shops.

Anybody used it and would recommend it? Or are there better ones out there?

We use chase debit card, no fees and it pays 1% cash back

There are several standard current accounts that don't charge a fee for use abroad. Virgin, Starling, Monzo, First Direct.

It's worth having one of these even if you don't want to use it as your everyday account.

Also Chase where the savings account pays a decent rate and then just transfer over to the current account to spend. V happy with it.

We have the PO travel money card like you OP and have used it in Italy x2 and Spain. We've had it 3 years now and they recently sent us a new card to replace the old one. All free of charge with same pin code etc. Its very easy to use. We're happy with it.

another vote for Chase card too! 1% cashback. No fees and they use a good exchange rate

Revolution card here.

Between us, we have Monzo, Starling and Revolut. Found Monzo was accepted more reliably.

Beware if buying fuel using prepayment pumps to have enough credit on the card before you buy. Think need £200 min even if only want much less. Or pay at the cashier's desk.
