New York and somewhere else

I’m taking my DD16 to New York next year end of June/early July for 4 nights.

I would like to add an extra 7 nights on in a different destination and someone has suggested a cruise to Bermuda and Florida from NY. I like this idea but have never done a cruise before. Has anybody else done the same and if so did you enjoy it? Or anyone done NY then somewhere else in America?

We did Boston, New York, Washington - fab holiday! DD was 15 at the time and loved it.

If you wanted some more beach time you could do NYC, Boston and then somewhere like Cape Cod?

we went to Cape Cod. Got the train (very cheap) up to Providence RI, spent the day there, then picked up a hire car to go the Cape. Stunning beaches, super-summery. If you didn't want to drive you could get the train to Boston and then the ferry to Provincetown.

Cape Cod is gorgeous and relaxing. If you want more cities/interesting things to do then Boston and/or Washington would be good

Oh thanks I’ll have a look at Cape Cod!

We fly to Boston next week, 5 nights, then 5 nights Newport/RI and then 5 nights NY.

Cape May is nice for a week. You can get a bus from NYC. Nice beach, nice quaint American seaside town, all wooden houses and that. Clean, tidy, plenty of bars and restaurants.

Not sure whether it's booked but one suggestion is rather than fly both ways, take the Queen Mary 2 one way. We did this then 4 nights in New York before flying home, Cunard sorted all the bookings out

We went on a whale watching boat trip from Province town in Cape cod. It was absolutely amazing we saw humpbacks close up and also fin whales.
Might be worth checking if you are more likely to see them at a particular time of year ( we were in school Summer holidays)
