Corfu

I have a holiday booked there in three weeks.

I know it's not near Rhodes but does anybody know what the situation is like on Corfu? Anybody there right now?

Breaking news just now that there are also fires in Corfu, it's a new story though at the moment so not much update yet.

We were swapping to Corfu. Due to go to Rhodes Wed. They advised us flights would be cancelled to Corfu soon.

Sorry there were no replies when I began to type.

Who advised that please?

We're due to go in two weeks and have everything booked independently so keeping a close eye.
There are several Facebook groups that I'm on and it seems fairly contained at the moment. There's also a Corfu Tourist app and they've shared info from the emergency services.

Have family there now, the photos are scary and they have very recently been told to evacuate.

No Govt advice re Corfu yet. Check your insurance.

It is getting under control and expected to be extinguished soon. It's been a worrying night but looking much more optimistic this morning.

We're heading there in 3 weeks. We're just keeping our eyes on the situation, things can change so fast.

I'm going soon, our insurance includes cover for cancellation due to fire but it was a bit more woolly about covering the cost if we need to leave early after arriving due to fire or similar so I've added on travel disruption cover as an extra just in case.

Greece has always had fires, the ones in Rhodes are large but not unprecedented. Corfu's minister says that they are under control. I'm not saying don't worry but try to keep perspective. It's actually a good example of why package holidays are better!

I probs jumped the gun extending our insurance but it'll give us peace of mind before and when we're out there.
