How do you choose where to go on holiday? Our first abroad as a family. We have 3dc 16,14&7.

would like a beach holiday with things to do. Hoping to stay in a private villa if anyone can recommend somewhere please?

What time of year?

What do you like? Watersports, theme parks, shopping, museums, food and drink, historical sites? Also budget and expectations re weather are a consideration.

We've been to lots of places where there is a beach and other places of interest. People paint a picture of how a holiday in the Med is nothing but laying around a pool in the sun drinking while DC are packed off to the kids club, but it can be far more than that.

Lanzarote - watersports, volcano park, caves, water park, Cesar Manrique arty stuff

Mainland Spain. Lots of 'city and beach' options. Malaga, Barcelona, Alicante, Palma, Lisbon and similarly places in Greece and Croatia all have loads of city break worthy museums, historical sites and 'wandering around and stopping for food and drink in little cafes' options, and are either on the beach or more traditional beach resorts are a short train journey away.

We went to Ovacik recently. It’s a small village with easy access via a local bus service to larger towns and resorts.( Oludeniz and Hisaronu)
The village has a water park and there’s a local family that offer wonderful Turkish barbecue evenings and gorgeous traditional breakfasts 😊
Plus your money goes a long way.

Cruise the kids would love it as some of the cater for teens, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity especially have great clubs well tailored to the age groups, look on Cruise Critic forum, I personally would avoid P&O as its like Butlin's at sea in comparison
