Tap Air Portugal - cabin bags are they very strict?

Hi

we are flying to Lisbon for 10 days with Tap Air Portugal in August. Never flown with them before, has anyone else and are they very strict with the cabin bags? saying no more than 10kg each.

DH. thinks we can all fly with a cabin bag each (x4) rather than bags in the hold, or just pay for one big case in the hold as well. Never done this before, as terrible overpacker but will have washing machine where we are staying. Can I do it?

Is there a size limit too. That's usually more of an issue than the weight. Clothes and the amount of toiletries you can take as hand luggage don't normally weigh more than 10 kg unless your case is very heavy anyway.

However, it can be useful to take a single hold case, as this allows you to take all the toiletries and other things you need and can be more cost effective, depending on how much it all is.

Do you also get a smaller bag as well as a trolley case? If you can take a rucksack and a trolley case, that's probably enough for a 10 day warm weather holiday. You could buy some toiletries airside or while you're there, but don't go mad as you won't be able to bring them back.

Hi

thanks for your reply. Yes the bag size restrictions 55x40x25 so a small wheelie suitcase and another bag that fits under the seat in front of you so I could also take a backpack…. Maybe I just need to be practical and sort out a wardrobe where everything goes and not keep putting things in I might need and don’t end up wearing them😂

yes I had thought about doing a Boots order and collecting airside. I usually decant all my stuff anyway, just need to be ruthless. I think we will end up taking one big suitcase in the hold as well. So my challenge is to get two DS stuff into carryons and DH will be fine as he travels regularly with carryon for work….. I always start off with the best intentions to achieve it but never quite do so maybe this is a good challenge for me…..
