Wasp help

We are due to travel to Greece in a few weeks. Last year we were plagued by wasps around the villa. We could not relax around the pool or outside. I tried citronella candles, oils and sprays but nothing seemed to work. Does anyone have any recommendations for what might work to keep them away?

These have good reviews. Hanging sandwich bags half full of water with copper pennies deters flies when camping. Worth a try.

In Berlin during wasp season they put water in little spray bottles on the tables, so you can spray the wasps. I think it’s supposed to make them think it’s raining so they fly off

I am sorry to hear that you have a problem with wasps around your villa. I know it is very unpleasant and stressful. I also had a bad experience with wasps last month, when I went to my aunt’s in the countryside. They had made a nest under the roof and they attacked everyone who approached.
My stepsister had suggested using wasp traps . Have you ever tried this kind of product? What do you think? Is it effective and safe for the environment? I would be curious to know your opinion.

we were plagued in sept - i assumed it was the time of year though. Does it happen all summer in some resorts? The greeks were burning coffee dregs everywhere though it didnt make much difference.

You can make wasp traps by putting jam/syrups in a jam jar with some water and piercing the top or putting a funnel type thing in the top (top of drinks bottle upturned). Its not really environmentally friendly as obviously it traps the wasps and any other insects that go inside (mainly wasps though). Put away from where you sit of you may find it just attracts more.
