Where to take DD 16 in October?

Hi,

We have a week off in October and I would like to take DD16 away. I was thinking about Munich but not sure. She like shopping and visiting big houses and castles but not keen on museums or art galleries. Love trying new food.

Any recommendations would be great before I book something. Preferably Europe as it's only a week.

Sorrento? Weather will be good, great food, good shopping, day trip to Pompeii (not quite a big house or a castle but you'd struggle not to find it amazing), amazing scenery.

Barcelona?

Southern Spain? Malaga, Grenada and Seville

Munich’s a good call. You could do a trip to Neuschwanstein castle, that is super impressive.

Lisbon

Barcelona. Great shops. Gaudi buildings. Weather should be nice.

Rome , lots to see , great shops, easy and delicious food . Would also second Granada ( buy tickets early for the Alhambra ) or Barcelona

Munich is crazy in October due to Oktoberfest. And, as your dd is below drinking age, I highly recommend you don’t do it!

Strangely that mostly takes place in September. It will be over by half term for sure.

@Bumcake
Is neuschwanstein closer than Munich?
It's on my DS13 wish list and I wanted to plan a trip
I read somewhere about flying to innsbruck for getting there

I would go to Spain and enjoy sunny days that aren’t too hot to explore. Valencia, Barcelona or Seville for me.

I think there’s not much in it distance wise. I’ve driven from Munich, it was about two hours and a nice journey. We also stayed in Fussen for a couple of nights.

Berlin? Charlottenburger Schloss or a short train ride to Potsdam for Sanssouci? Lots of shopping as well.

Munich - the Octoberfest is over but with 16 you can drink when you are with a parent and eating food. You only get wine, sparkling wine and beer though.

Granada is great but I think not enough for a week. But you could split between Granada and a stay at the coast.
