Does anyone else dislike long haul holidays?

In my head 'long haul' was always more exciting and better. But having been on quite a few, I've come to the firm realisation that I don't want to leave Europe for my future holidays. I've spent huge amounts of money to travel to far away places, and whilst rewarding, I've never really felt relaxed. I suppose the only exception would be Thailand where my money got a nice hotel and good service.

But I've been to three countries in the Caribbean, a South American country, Pacific Island Countries, and one in East Africa. So I'm decently well travelled. Even when I've flown business class, because of the jet lag, I feel even more knackered after the trip than when I set off.

I couldn't think of anything worse.
Being herded like cattle through the incredibly stressful and long winded process at the airport and then being squashed for hours in the middle of an overcrowded noisy plane is not my ideal of fun. The whole experience is a complete nightmare. Airport staff are rude and obnoxious, your hanging around hours waiting for luggage, flights are often delayed, and the best of it is your charges through the roof for it.
I much prefer watching the walk around hours of different countries on YouTube in the comfort of my own home, and I'm not at risk of being pick pocketed or assaulted.

Ah upside Essex class and airline status sorts Moston that. I .ove long haul. Last trip was uk - paris- Las Vegas- new zealand- singapore ( then a mo th travelling SEA) Then back to UK. However I wouldn't do it in economy and got really good deal on those business class flights (2.5k)

Should say that business class and airline status sorts most of that

I've not been anywhere in all honesty long haul that I preferred to the best of Greece, Italy, France, Germany , Scandis and Spain/Balearics.

The exception being I've enjoyed holidays in USA/Canada

I hate high humidity too , which hasn't helped on a few longer hauls

I am the opposite of this, I have been to sixty countries and want to get to 100. I want to see so much of the world, breathe the air, feel the weather on my skin, see how different cultures live, eat the food and see all the sights. I view the journey as the means to an end not something that would put me off travelling.
