Rethymno Crete - anyone there? Is the heat horrific?

We fly out on Friday and absolutely dreading it now after seeing all the news reports on TV this morning of heatwave in Europe and Greece…. Is it going to be horrendous?

Dont know but when we stayed in florida my advice for extreme heat use canned spray sun cream they dry quicker.Lotion based ones melt off before they can soak in.Even if they say all day reapply at lunch.
Drink isotonic drinks to prevent dehydration ,you sweat so much you drink so much its exhausting.Were a wide hat and sun glasses

I'd like to know this too! The forums on Tripadvisor say it's really hot. We go next week and hoping it will break before that, if not we're going to be pretty nocturnal. Easier with teens but I don't know what we would have done with smaller children!
Hopefully someone will come and tell us what it's actually like now.

We're currently in Crete but northeast between Heraklion and Ag Nik. It's been 30 today with a decent breeze. Expecting it to be hotter into the weekend but not above 35.

Ok. It's 37 today. It's very hot. Ok for lying around and pool/sea time but not much else.

Yes we are in Rethymno ! Very hot today but we have amazing air con in the villa and a pool .
Depends on what your accommodation is like .
If it has good air con and pool will be fine . Otherwise nightmare!
I can just about make it to shops etc . Very warm .

It was 36 when we got up this morning.

We're in Kos and it's stinking hot, 37 degrees or so. We get up early to do breakfast then beach or pool. After lunch there is no human way to be out, so we retire for a siesta in the aircon. Swim again from about 4.30pm. It barely cools down at night either. You need to drink a bucket load (and not alcohol!).
