So excited to be going for two whole weeks. It’s just me and son. he’s 15 and has been hiding in computer games, likes physics and maths. And I desperately need to show him life beyond computers. Has anyone any recommendations?! Thank you!

Thanks all! We now have sore feet! Have done Brooklyn bridge and pizza , Empire State, time s square, and the maths museum, but it was mainly little kids pulling levers and stuff.
recommend spyscape, which DS loved. Especially dodging lazers.

today is highlife if my feet hold up! And hopefully kayaking
thank you!
and you are right, united airlines food is..yik. We have no idea what it actually was!

If he has a good head for heights, there’s a fun tour at St John the Divine which takes you right up to the flying buttresses and then onto the roof. You don’t need to be into cathedrals to enjoy it. Plus it’s right across the street from the Hungarian Pastry shop, a great little bakery.

Our teen boys loved going to see basketball at the Barclay Centre in Brooklyn ( might be wrong season for basketball but any sports match is good ) . We walked up the Upper West side to Columbia which is impressive , the buildings just seem huge and imposing and it’s been used for lots of films, stopping on the way at Zabars the Jewish supermarket for amazing bagels and just the whole experience . We walked back along the Hudson River .

The planetarium was good at the natural history museum, hot tip if you get tickets for the planetarium show you skip the line into the museum.

The Guggenheim is iconic but you can get the effect from the outside if you are not into the art.

The Ulysses Grant memorial is the largest in the US or something and is also on the Upper West side . Good if you are into Civil war etc. and just a bit different.

We also did breakfast at the Rockefeller centre and the Staten Island Ferry .

Another brilliant experience was Saturday brunch at Maison Pickle you won’t need to eat for the rest of the day but it was amazing and a good mix of locals and tourists https://www.maisonpickle.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2020/11/MP-Brunch.pdf

Ooh good suggestion s! We did intrepid yesterday. He loved the vr where you fly a plane. I see what you mean about E numbers keykaty. We headed for the high line, but it pored. Warm rain! So exciting! So hid in hudson yards which was just posh shops. We had an ny night out with women friends. I think ds bored/ bemused. They are very glam and confident so different to British women I think! I felt like a soggy sack of potatoes.😁
we are off to Washington for a night today!
definiteky dragging him up St. John when we get back, and Madison pickle, thank you! I’d be happy in the Guggenheim, but his idea of hell. He likes computers, science, space. Don’t think I’ll get him to a sports game, shame!
its so big!

Thank you. Teen LOVED Washington. V hot. Blown away by actual appollo stuff at air and space museum.
penultimate day and we are both knackered. Did high line, world trade, states island ferry yesterday and I think we are both over crowds and eating! I thought to do an escape room but as pp says I think he’s happy
