Don't want a beach holiday, where to go in September with a 2 year old?

I am really stuck for ideas. We are going to Cornwall in July for a week to Bosinver Farm but fancy a break somewhere in September/October.

I don't particularly like hot beach holidays, being fair of skin and with a low boredom threshold. I don't fancy longhaul with a 2 year old and a DH who doesn't like long flights because of painful ears.

I am completely out of ideas. European flights would be OK. Any ideas? We rented a villa in Majorca last summer and that was great but DS was 6 months and immobile. I suspect our toddler will require much entertaining on future holidays!

Help with some inspiration please?

centerparcs?

City break of some description? How about Prague - there's a zoo and park type areas that should help keep the 2 year old happy.

TotalChaos · 25/02/2008 19:30

oooh and I found Prague more childfriendly than UK - some of the cafes and restaurants have little kid play areas.

Oh, I love Prague but we were there just 2 years ago. Villa Karli looks wonderful. What airports would be best, do you know? I may well check out the flight situation and give you a call.

I don't really fancy Centerparcs for October. Not sure why. Is it worth a visit?

Thanks for the tips...any more?

the alps?

Hello, I have sent a text to you! I am near Birmingham so any Midlands airport would be OK. I have found cheap flights from Manchester to Perpignan but ideally Birmingham or East Midlands would be better.

We'd like to come in September or October with no real preferences regarding dates. We are very flexible and have no need for school holiday travels [making the most of it]

Oops, sent the text to the wrong number! Have re-sent it. Now off to check out Brum flights. Thank you so much for your help.

Ooh we are going to Bosinver in September for the first time, can't wait. Which cottage are you in, I think we are in Apple ?

We flew to Nice when DS was about 7mths and had a great time there. France is wonderful and relaxing, however a great part of its success was long leisurely lunches as DS slept, not so good with a 2 yr old.

JingleyJen · 25/02/2008 21:55

we have headed off the loire valley a couple of times.

Castles have been great for our ds and we are hoping they will still hold interest this summer.

Thanks, text received! Now armed with flight details and prices I will discuss with my husband and get back to you. 2 weeks sounds very tempting indeed...will discuss that too but dh is self-employed so getting him to commit to 1 week is a challenge.

Rookiemater, we are in Trerose at Bosinver and very much looking forward to the daily egg hunt.

I did, thanks. Ryanair is currently not working and I think the flights only published up until the end of August. Will chat to DH about the Manchester flight anyway and let you know. He agrees the Villa looks wonderful. Just need to pin him down on dates.

Will also mention the broadband access but I suspect that won't be enough of a pull for a 2 week stay...
