Geneva airport transfer to Annecy

Has anyone holidayed in Annecy recently and taken the bus from Geneva Airport? I'm finding it confusing and potentially expensive!? If you have undertaken this journey, did you need to book the bus and does it really take over an hour (for 26 mile journey?). Also how much did it cost?
Thanks

Depends where you're going in Annecy.

It's a 40 minute drive minimum, assuming you're going on the toll road. There's also the teeny matter of crossing an international border so I assume a coach company will have additional costs there as well as delays. Geneva and Annecy are both quite expensive areas so it's not like jumping on a shuttle bus to Benidorm.

It's a beautiful part of the world though, so sit back and enjoy!

Get the train!

Airport to Gare Cornavin and then the Leman Express to Annecy.

This. Going to annecy by train we changed at annemasse where the connection was a bus..but it was still a train ticket iycwim.

Flix bus is ok i think. Switzerland and France both in schengen so no border controls after landing at the airport.

Enjoy.

Switzerland and France both in schengen so no border controls after landing at the airport.

There is still a border between the two though, only place my kids have ever been questioned about who they are travelling with.

Maybe not be no border controls, but driving into Switzerland cost us 40euros a few years back. Apparently, if you avoid the motorways, you can avoid this this charge.

We got the Eurostar to Paris, did an overnight there and got a train to Annecy which was a gorgeous train journey and really relaxing.

Just like arriving in any foreign country for the first time. But once you are in France or Switzerland there are no border checks switching countries .

For the love of god don’t get a taxi in Switzerland! Cost me about £35 for a 5 min trip.
got bus from Geneva airport to Annecy a few years ago. Don’t think it was too pricey, but it did take an hour. V pretty journey. No issues at all re passports. Nobody asked.
