Need urgent 6 berth couchette but only 4 of us - make up 2 fictional passengers?

I had another post earlier - flight has been cancelled and am trying to get to Italy. I've worked out a route that includes a sleeper train from Paris to Nice, but in a 6-berth couchette. I'd be too frightened to sleep with 2 random strangers in there as well as my family, so am thinking if I say the party is of 6 people we can have the whole thing (and just buy 6 tickets). but this means inventing 2 fake children - am worried there might be issues with this. anyone know?

Of course, it will be fine! Or book first class.

I’d probably not invent children, grandparents maybe? But is it one of those you book and then get allocated and collect tickets at the station? Just wondering if your two imaginary passengers are no shows then others will be assigned the spaces…

We have a lot of autoimmune illness in the family. We are forever turning up at things with a smaller party than we booked for (because someone is flaring and ill) Theatre, train, ferry, dinners....

It's never been an issue. But, as PP said, I'd add adult names - pensioners if the tickets are cheaper - just because leaving two of your own minor children behind would look slightly odder than, say, grandparents crying off. Not that it is likely to matter.

Thanks, older people would have been a good idea, but I invented children because the tickets were cheaper for them. There were no first class options left.

It all went ok, still on the train now!
