What do you consider expensive for a hotel?

I'm not talking about all inclusive or jungle lodges that include activities etc.

Just thinking, beach holiday. Hotel including breakfast. What do you consider expensive?

I know it will depend on salary, but for us we aim to spend not much more than £100 per night. We would consider £200 a night a splurge.

Interestingly, this hasn't changed since our earnings increased over the years from a household income of 100k to 400k.

Premier inn is a treat for us. Their prices (and other similar places) have really rocketed lately.

What's the point in earning 400k a year if you are afraid to spend any of it? I prefer to find hotels for £100 a night. Realistically I spend more, around £200. Our household income is a tenth of yours.

£400 per night for a week is at the top-ish end of the budget. However, the last room I did at this rate was definitely worth it. We usually end up at £250-300 night for room and breakfast in the summer.

We tend to do dual stays e.g.city and beach, or two islands. So if one week is over £400 per night, the second week’s hotel usually balances out.
