Hi we are staying here in August. Just wondering can anyone recommend nice places to eat and fun day trips or activities with 7 year old. We are staying in sunset beach. Thanks

Go up to Arroya, and get the cable car up the hill behind the resort. They have a bird show which is good and sometimes a horse show. The zoo in Fuengirola has been upgraded so it is much better for the animals and it focusses on conservation. We went to the zoo in 1986, and they poked the sleeping tiger to make it move about. The same tiger now has a large compound to mooch about in. Get the bus or train to Malaga. The Alcazar is a good place to visit with good views. There are several museums that your 7 year old may like. Paloma Park is close to where you are staying. Loads of small animals plus a big lake with ducks, fish and turtles in. Loads of boat trips from the marina. You can often see dolphins out just offshore. There are so many restaurants you will be spoiled for choice. We quite like a small Spanish place up by Arroya train station, that has regular jazzy music. Mijas is a good trip for adults, 7 year old would probably like it as there us a good chocolate and ice cream shop in the village centre. The beach is good, and they sometimes have an inflatable obstacle course, if they are a good swimmer.

PP has covered loads there are lots of nice places to eat. On the beach front near the windmill roundabout there’s a row of seafood restaurants that are lively.
We’ve been to Selwo marine park and enjoyed it. It it does have captive dolphins and I am aware that’s not for everyone. There is good water park in Torremolinos and you can easily get to Torremolinos for the day on the tram from Aroyo you can also stop of at another park off the tram that has swam boats and a battlements. The pueblo is very pretty and has a nice feel about it. Basically loads to do.

When we stayed in Benalmadena we got a taxi every night to Pueblo to eat. It's a village above the main resort with a lovely little square with a fountain in the middle. There's lovely

restaurants in the square and one we remember with a terrace with views across to the coast. It's was only a very short drive away.

We also drove to Mijas for a day trip. A really pretty little town in the mountains with lots of restaurants and great views.

We also drove to Seville for a day trip and took a cheap air b&b for a night so that we could make the most of our time there. That was a highlight of our holiday actually.

We only went into the main resort of Benalmadena once!

I returned on Wednesday, it really is a lovely place to visit and lots to do. We went on a boat trip and was lucky enough to see the dolphins. Also there is a aqua park on the beach if your child is a confident swimmer which was lots of fun

There is a zoo in Fuengirola that we loved. They seem to be focused on conservation and they even do a 'walk' with the lemurs which was so much fun.

We really enjoyed our time there and there was an amazing cafe a short walk away in a town square called Plaza Del Carmen. It was called Paris Latino when we went and was great value for money (if still there as this was pre Covid).

Thanks everyone. One more question I know the beach beside sunset beach club is a bit stoney anyone know how far away a sandy beach would be where the water starts of shallow and dosnt go deep straight away.
