Where would you go the week after next? Just DH and I, we want to do nothing for 3/4 nights, just stay somewhere with a room with a seaside or countryside view, preferably with a balcony. Don’t care if it’s UK or aboard and budget is about £500 each for travel and accommodation.

Too many places to choose from so am hoping mumsnetters can suggest actual hotels they’ve stayed in and enjoyed.

Should obviously say welcome, just bumping to see if anyone has any suggestions, thanks 😊

Dp and I had a gorgeous time in Sidmouth earlier in the year, using up a stay I'd originally booked for me and my mum. We stayed in the Royal York and Faulkner hotel which was perfectly nice, amazing sea views, but we must have dropped the average age a bit - very much an 'orange juice as a starter' kind of place. I'd originally looked at the Belmont which is fabulous in an Agatha Christie kind of way - it seems to have a double room available for eg Mon to Thurs next week with sea view for just over £1000? While there i really liked the look of the Dukes Inn, we had good food there one night and they also do rooms though are a bit more set back from the seafront.

Sidmouth itself is delightful, very laid back, nice shops, one posh restaurant (Neil's i think - highly recommended) and excellent scenery and SW Coast Path walks.

I like using Skyscanner's 'everywhere' feature for this - you type in 'everywhere' as your destination and enter dates, and it shows you the cheapest options. Here's an example. Looks like you could go to Ibiza for £77 each return!

Oh - places I've stayed in and enjoyed -

The Graduate Hotel in Cambridge. Lovely hotel, nice spa, rooms with balconies overlooking the river.

Also stayed here in Rome which was a great flat, though no balcony. Great location.

Malaga is great, though very hot in July.

You don't say where you are but if it's peace, tranquility, and not too many people you're after, then either the Dumfries and Galloway part of Scotland (I'm still amazed how few people even know it's there) or just about anywhere in Northumberland..( okay, maybe not Cramlington as there are so many more scenic parts of Northumberland).

Devon, Cornwall, the rest of the West Country will be rammed from that week pretty much until mid September now so not as peaceful as at other times of year. Not sure about Pembrokeshire as have only visited in spring which was lovely, depending on where you are it's a bit of a journey though.

And round about Ludlow/Welsh borders can be quiet and lovely too but again I've not visited in season, as it were.

Where are you or at least which airport would you want. Massive differences in price between them.
Anytime that week or covering the weekend. Was going to recommend Prince Albert Cottage in the Iske of Wight. Was part of Osbourne House. Queen Victoria’s old quest quarters.
