Looking to do a break with 25 year old DD. Nice hotel, but of luxury. We like walking and swimming - can cope with bracing water!

Any suggestions welcome.

Countless possibilities but for a good compromise, Luzern (Lucerne) is lovely and has easy access to loads of walking eg Mt Rigi, Pilatus etc as well as plenty of walking round the historic city centre. And you can swim in the lake! Easy access to beautiful countryside for excursions etc. Cant recommend a particular hotel. I lived in the country for years but never stayed in a hotel! It’s an expensive country so also consider Air BnB.

I second either Lucerne or Interlaken. Beautiful walks lots of lakes to swim in with water so clean you can drink it.

Thanks both. Will get investigating Lucerne I think

There’s no airport at Lucerne but it’s easy to hop on a train from Zurich airport. The station is right underneath the airport and takes about an hour with no changes. If hiring a car, it’s about 45 mins drive.

We will be planning to travel by train so lack of airport is zero problem!

St Moritz is beautiful, you can take the train there and use it to explore the Rhaetian Alps.

Currently planning a trip with DH. Train from Paris to Zermatt. Swanky hotel and walks from there. On to Interlaken. Ditto. And then somewhere else (as yet undecided) before heading back to Geneva for two nights and back again via Paris.
My main concern right now is increasing my fitness so I can keep up with DH on the big ups!

You can travel to Lucerne via Basel. Alternatively try the Bernese Oberland, staying in either Grindelwald, Wengen, Kandersteg or Interlaken. If money is no object (!) the hotel at Bad Ragaz is the hangout of celebs!
