Does anyone recommend things to do in Barcalona for families? Any hotels, preferably with a pool?
Going at the end of July.

What sort of budget?

Novotel Barcelona City has a rooftop pool and has good public transport links to the sights.

How long are you going for? We are going for a few days in August and I found the hotels shockingly expensive - we usually stay with family when we're in Spain.

There's a few H10 hotels which might fit the bill.

We're staying at Hotel Colon which has a rooftop pool, though it looks a bit grown up.

I don't find Barcelona overrun with family attractions. You could do the cable car, sagrada familia, Park Guell, the beach, the Mercado to choose some snacks/juice, Tibidabo (old fairground), there's also an aquarium and a science museum. Can you get over to Salou for Port Aventura and/or the water park?

Tarragona is also nice for a day trip and has the amphitheatre, if you have time. Also a zipline place near there, but might be best suited if you have a car.

Train to sitges from Barcelona airport, takes about an hour. Fabulous beach, great little place

You’re leaving it late. Barcelona gets booked up quick in the summer.

I’ve stayed in these and all have pools and great locations.
H10 Casa mimosa
Catalonia Port, Born or Catedral

I did 2 days in Barcelona last summer with a 7 and 9 year old. We stayed in a TOC hostel which had family rooms and a small pool and was close to everything. The kids loved the funicular and cable car up to Montjuic and the market on the Ramblas(can't remember it's name). They also loved the Big Fun museum - very wacky and random and we got some funny pics.

We all loved Tibidabo. It’s a combination of being scary because it’s old and genuine thrills. The haunted house was the most terrifying thing every. It’s got actors …literally like being in a horror movie.

Parc Guell
La Pedera Modernista Apartment building with fancy chimney pots
Sagrada Familia at sunset
Cable car up Montjuic
Joan Miro Art Gallery (very child friendly art and sculpture)
Magic Fountain of Montjuic
Old cathedral guarded by geese
Little beach for a break
Cuitadella Park with rowing boats
