Insurance from jet2 for chicken pox

DD has a couple of small spots (2 on belly and 1 on leg) which could be chicken pox as it’s doing it’s round in her class at the moment. We are due to go to Tenerife next week and have booked with jet2. Does anyone know the policies / refund process regarding chicken pox? As I know you cannot fly with them. I can’t seem to find anything about the refund or insurance policy surrounding chicken pox. Only covid19.
any help would be greatly Appreciated

What about your travel insurance policy? Or did you buy travel insurance from Jet2?

What day are you flying? A lot of kids are fine within 5 days or so, last scab needs to crust over and you’re done

What does your insurance policy say? You would normally need dr confirmation that it is chicken pox to make a claim.

You'll need to get a Dr's note and most likely claim from your travel insurance, it's highly unlikely they airline would simply refund at this stage.

Also bear in mind insurance might not cover all of you. It’s sometimes one dependent and one adult.

The airline won't cover you, your insurance will.

You do have travel insurance don't you?

Call your travel insurers and they will explain what to do. You will need some kind of Doctor's letter to prove it's chicken pox and you cannot fly but the insurance company will tell you what they need.

DSD got chicken pox while we were actually on holiday, spots came out two days after landing and her mum said she thought she had chicken pox but didn’t say anything as she thought we wouldn’t go if we knew!

Our insurance (not through the airline) covered everything but Jet2 wouldn’t let her on the plane without a ‘fit to fly’ note from the doctor. And they asked to see it as she was spotty! She had to wait till the last spot crusted over. I flew home alone and DH & DSD stayed three more days. The insurance arranged for them to stay in the same room at the hotel and flew them back but to a different airport than the one we flew out from, but they also paid for a taxi back home from there.

Not sure if it will work the same way in reverse though.

You'd claim on your travel insurance.

You do have travel insurance?

If not, take it out online now, before you 'know' about this.

Jet 2’s policy will be you can’t fly with chicken pox so you will, if you have to cancel due to that reason get a doctors letter and claim on your insurance

When do you fly, get the Poxclin moose if you have a good few days and book a GP appointment for the day before for a fit to fly 🤞🏻 you make it.

Really wish they would drop the rule as your more contagious before spots then they crust by day 5/6 when no longer contagious.

I’d just ring the claims number and see what they say if you haven’t since renewed or taken out a new one. Probably cheaper to m for those who can to fly on original dates and one of you and the Lo follow when safe to fly

That's fine - you are covered for anything that happens between the day you bought the insurance policy and the day you return. You can call them now and put in a claim for this if required.

Yes I was about to say the date of issue is over a year ago so surely it's now expired?

Right you’ll likely be allright then, obviously it’s a crap situation
ideall you could reschedule to a bit later in the summer but I would expect additional cost

The date on the screen shot is last year. Presumably that's when the holiday and insurance were booked. So yes, your insurance starts from the date you take it out until your return.
Call the insurance helpline in the morning.
