Iv obviously watched to many country movies as for our dream holiday is usa I like the thought of North carolina/Georgia..we'd like to experience their everyday living and be in amongst it, I'd like to maybe see some live country music, ideally somewhere to take the kids horseriding and would love to see a rodeo. I would like to go in August have 2 girls aged 7 & 11..I just have no clue where to start there are so many places..were in UK and have only been to US once to New york..any suggestions would be amazing 😀

Hello! I grew up in North Carolina and then went to uni in Georgia and lived there for a bit after. There are beautiful parts of both states.

August is going to be very hot, so definitely find somewhere with air con.

Are you happy to rent a car and drive while you're there? There isn't much public transport in either state (other than Atlanta), so if you're not going to drive, you'll want to be somewhere with some public transport.

Chapel Hill, North Carolina is beautiful and near some more rural areas so you'd get the best of both worlds. It's also very close to RDU airport, which has a direct flight from Heathrow.

If you want a rodeo, I'd start by finding a rodeo that you like the look of and plan your trip around it.

If you'd like to share more about what exactly you're looking for (types of accommodation, budget, interests, etc) I'd be happy to answer any questions.

A few years ago I flew into Atlanta, stayed for a few days & then drove through North Carolina to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Gatlinburg was touristy but a great little mountain town with lots to keep your kids entertained.

It is also right next to Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, which could be a great day out.

I plan to go back next year and drive along the blue ridge parkway down to Asheville, and then south to Charleston.

Not exactly what you have asked for, but some food for thought!
