I am having to return to Oz quite urgently as my Dad has just had a heart attack, my Husband cant get his Visa until May, so I am having to fly by myself. DD1 has just turned 2 and DD2 is 7 monhts old. I am absolutely dreading the flight by myself, but I think it has to be done, I am desperate to get home. Any suggestions are appreciated.

(well for gods sake don't think of looking for a nanny to help - last time a poster did that she got slaughtered on here).

Really, wishing you well, I am sure the airline staff will be helpful seeing what you are coping with and that the flight is a medical emergency calling not a planned flight to Oz. Make sure you tell the airline up front and remind them as you are checking in they may reserve some additional seats for you to spread out.

You poor thing, it is going to be hard. (Having done many trips with ds without dh but not two children, yet!).

Ask for help from the hostesses, maybe right at the beginning say why you are travelling by yourself and please could they help give you breaks, and other nice looking travellers, especially those with babies - they will help. Especially when you need to go to the toilet with 2 year old.

Where are you stopping on the way? That will be the hardest part, sometimes they don't let you have a pram (as its in luggage) will you be ok carrying 7mth old and walking 2 year old?

Make sure someone meets you at the other end. Hope your Dad is ok.

I have just done a long haul with a 2 year old and a 7 month old but also had dh with me. I could not have survived without my baby bjorn it was sooooooo handy. Also had treats in bag to drip feed 2 year old with like choc buttons, plastic animals books etc. Get a bassinet!!! I did not get one and it makes it too hard. The air hostesses were great and other travellers were brilliant. Have a buggy to hold the 2 year old in. If they are potty training I used a pottette which was brilliant.

Pack light!! and possibly try to take a back pack

also to add Loads of luck you will be fine and ask them for the at the aircraft labels to pick up your buggy!!

OMG Nads.
That will be hard work.

I've done a lot of travelling alone with little kids and my best tip is not to leave the plane until they bring the buggy to the door.

You can't walk all the way to the luggage carousel with the two of them.

I just refused to move.
Alternatively, book one of those little electronic cars.
