Where would suit us in January?

Thinking about taking a week’s leave in January. Want to travel somewhere overseas as UK depresses me in January. Anywhere else long haul is probably too far.

We have just come back from St Lucia and had atrocious weather so put off the Caribbean.

We don’t have a huge budget either, so probably looking to spend no more than £2,000 for all food and accommodation but not including flights (I tend to use airmiles)

My DH often go on cosy European city breaks at this time of year. We book a nice spa hotel
and go for four or even five nights. We sightsee, go on little boat trips etc then use the spa and then go for dinner and a concert/show/other entertainment.
We usually book a bigger trip out for the middle day to the local countryside or a castle etc.

Other suggestions are Dubai (I went in February), Egypt or Oman (I haven’t been to this one).

You’d get a decent holiday in Marrakech for £2k

Canary Islands will be warm in January.

Southern Spain?

Cape Verde, 5/6 hour flight, not baking hot, mid 20’s temps during the day, light wrap needed of an evening.

Morocco or Southern Spain.

If you could stretch to ten nights Goa or Sri Lanka are perfect in January and if you can get a good deal on your flights you'll be easily in budget. Or what about The Gambia. It has an iffy package reputation but the beaches are stunning and there's loads to see.

The Caribbean in January will be very different to now, weather much better than this time of year. Mexico is another option. Canaries will be very low 20s at best pleasant weather but not that hot.

Cape Verde is 26 degrees all year round and about 4.5 hrs away

Morroco is beautiful and great weather in January. I'm staying at the Allegro Agadir and it is lovely!

This January it was 24°everyday
