Traveling Asia with a 3 year old

I'm taking my 3 year old traveling around Asia next year, we are going to:

India
Sri Lanka
Thailand
Malaysia
Singapore
Indonesia

I've traveled extensively before, but I've always struggled with the time difference in Asia. I've never took my son to this side of the world so I'm a bit worried about the jet lag etc

Has anyone took a young child to Asia before? Any tips for adjusting to the time difference? Any tips for long flights / travel days?

Thanks in advance! 😊

Just make sure you have a week someone chilled at the start to get over the jet lag. I took my son to Kerala when he was 3 and don’t remember the jet lag being a massive issue but we were just flopped on a beach for a couple of weeks so time to adjust.

travel days are about planning I think, just make sure you’re not being too ambitious with times/ distances. They’re all incredibly child friendly countries but you can only do half as much with kids along and they won’t get much out of being dragged to a thousand different temples.

As PP said, when you do the longer flights, plan a few rest days when you arrive. Not much you can do apart from that! Assuming you are moving between those countries you’ll suffer less from jet lag than if you flew straight to Singapore. And enjoy sounds amazing

Yes plenty of chill days! And most of the time we'll be out for the morning then around the pool in the afternoon or vice versa. Our longest internal journey is 5 hours from Jaipur back to New Delhi so I think he'll be okay with that as long as he has plenty of snacks and Peppa pig on repeat 😁

Thanks!

Yes we fly to India first which I think has the least time difference? So hopefully won't be as bad. I'm going to change the itinerary slightly so we have an extra few days of rest when we get there

Singapore is the most expensive of the countries that you have listed

All extremely hot !

Not sure how helpful this will be for travelling with a toddler but I travel between Europe and Asia fairly frequently, navigating the 7/8 hour time difference and I use the app Timeshifter to help me manage / avoid jet lag. It basically tells you when to sleep, when to see light etc. You can get one journey for free I think before paying for it.
