Manchester Airport drop off?

My 4yo and I are flying from T1 tomorrow. What is the best way to get to the airport without spending £11 for my husband to drop us off and pick us up? I thought there was a bus that ran from a car park or something but it seems like that's just if you're parking your car there?

Well personally I would be of the opinion that whilst it is annoying, it is a piffling amount in comparison to the price of the flights and I wouldn’t annoy myself any further on the subject.

Yes normally I'd agree but our flights were an absolute steal as we're only nipping over to the Isle of Man with EasyJet Grin

There is a free drop off but it isn't near the terminal so it might be a lot more hassle than you can cope with, as you are travelling with a child. The best source of up to date information is the airport's own website.

Not sure which direction you will come from but if it's M56:

Come off the M56 and take the turning towards T2. When you get to the roundabout take the first exit then turn left.

Free car park (near jetpacks car park) is sign posted. It is easy to find.

See attached map. It is marked on Google maps but my sat nav throws a wobbler trying to enter it as a destination.

Go through the barrier and get a token. Can drop off free.

You can then get the free bus to the airport which runs very frequently. It stops at every terminal.

Alternatively it's nearly as quick to walk from the drop off to T1 if you don't have much luggage.

No free pick up though.

It's DEAD easy. Don't worry.

As shown on the map. It's really quick, easy and safe.

I dropped parents there yesterday. They were on the bus before I had got the token in the machine and got out the carpark! Bus stop is about 10 metres from the drop off zone. It really is easy even with a small child and bus isn't just for parked cars.

Oh yeah be warned. Don't try and get picked up there. They fine for it.

Can you help with following query? We are due to travel from Manchester airport in December but prior to parking our car at one of the airport car parks we are planning on meeting with our daughter and Son in law to collect our two grandchildren who are travelling with us. We will also be transferring our dog to the daughter who is looking after the dog while we are away. The question is will we be able to do this at the free drop off car park and is this car park still available?

The free drop off has a brief period you can stay there. I think it's 20 or 30 mins.

There's no restrictions on who can use this.

So yes, you could do this there but you would need to do so within the time window otherwise you risk a hefty fine.

Weirdly it doesn't show on Google maps but there's a Costa behind this BP and M&S simply food - you could meet there and swap kids and dog then go to the car park. maps.app.goo.gl/JmpqH6HjecauqEqB6?g_st=ic

Many thanks for your help believe time period is 60 minutes so plenty of time to do the swop thanks again

The free drop off is at one of the car parks further away, where you catch a bus there after, at a Jet Parks.

There are other drops offs with a few. When we went is was something like £5 for 5 minutes, £6 for 20 minutes or £25 for longer.

We dropped dd off before she went away for 4 months and ended up paying for the longer amount as needed to give her hand.

Oops - just realised this is an old thread!

RedToothBrush · 30/09/2023 08:22

You could just park at that car park and meet your family at the drop off and then get the bus.

Would be the most sensible/ easy answer tbh.
