Lufthansa Business Class

Hello,

Has anyone flown business class with Lufthansa on a boeing 747-8? I'm considering upgrading but read mixed reviews so not sure if it's worth it.

Grateful to hear anyone's experience.

I’ve flown on their A340 in business class in November however I believe it has the same seating configuration as the 747-8 and tbf it wasn’t amazing but it was still nice. The storage wasn’t amazing but I appreciated the direct aisle access and virtually no queues for the toilet. Are you travelling with a partner? If so - aim for the upper deck as the seating layout is 2-2. The food was good albeit uninspiring but was a comfortable bed for a 14 hour flight. How long is the flight and how much is the upgrade? If it’s an overnight flight then I would be more likely to upgrade. See attached the photos of the seat and food I had.

I loved the arrivals lounge in Frankfurt - far better than BA/Virgin/American Airlines’ equivalent at Heathrow.

Thanks @Londre that's really helpful! It's also a 14hr night flight, £816pp, one way. It's my parents that are travelling and I was going to upgrade them as a surprise but I'm a bit disappointed with the reviews and lack of privacy. DH and I done a similar flight with Air France a few years ago and it was amazing. We had our own booths, big screens, larger seats/beds, proper linen table clothes for dinner, a wardrobe to hang our jackets, PJs, etc. (And it was cheaper than Lufthansa)! Lufthana's business class offering looks a bit basic in comparison. On the flip side, this is likely to be their last long haul holiday and it is a LONG one.

Was there food/drinks that you could help yourself to between meals? It doesn't mention anyrhing on Lufthansa's website.

I think for that price and length, I would do it! It definitely isn’t the best business class but the crew were good and was cheaper than rivals (well for me it was).

I’m sorry but I don’t remember whether we were served snacks. Have a look on YouTube at reviews for a similar flight and that’ll tell you. I slept like a rock as I was shattered so didn’t have time to check out the food options. Lufthansa provide linen & pyjama bottoms which was a nice touch. The amenity kit was L’Occitane which I loved!

I've been on -I think- the A340. It's not the best business class because of the layout, but if you are with a partner, the 2x2 works well and the lounges at both Frankfurt and Munich are good. Also depending on where you are going, the code share might work well. We ended up with Asiana and JAL or ANA (can't remember which) as part of the journey.

As others have said it’s not the best business class but it is cheaper than others. I wasn’t keen on the layout as definitely less privacy than other airlines business class. But I’m doing it again next year as it’s cheaper than others. I’m flying to Sydney and doing Lufthansa to Singapore and then Singapore Airlines for the second leg to Sydney. So it balances out!

Thanks @CrepuscularCritter what's the code share? They are flying Frankfurt to Buenos Aires.

Sorry...been out having eye surgery, so just catching up. If you go to the Lufthansa site and look for code share partners, it will tell you what other airlines might fly part of the route o. LH's behalf. I'm not sure who the partners might be for South America.
