When to book ferry or Eurostar to france?

I am thinking way ahead here but I want to make sure we get a good deal. Next year (2024) we are hoping to go to south Brittany with the car, two young kids. I think we’d go second half of August or possibly the middle two weeks. Thinking overnight ferry from Portsmouth and then drive.

How far in advance do we need to book? Can you save money by booking stupidly ahead?

I'm booking ours tonight from Portsmouth to st Malo as early bird prices. Want to make sure we get a 4 person cabin both ways too.

I have been looking ferries to st malo. But couldn't find a cabin for the overnight trip as all sold out already for the dates I wanted in Aug 24. Is this right?

I think usually you can book around 12 months in advance. I would book as early as possible. We have booked for June next year though not on Brittany ferries.

I had a look on aferry.com could see bookings until late aug next year Portsmouth st Malo.

For Portsmouth- St Malo - as early as possible as they get booked up. For Dover - Calais we always book the day before and have never had any problems or found it to be more expensive.
